This Place

It’s been a few weeks with an abundance of life lived. This little Midwestern town has held and comforted my soul through some of the worst moments this 23 year old has faced within my short life. Something beautiful happened here, these people, this place, created a healing, a divine encounter of real people that shared life together and came into friendship with someone foreign and unknown.

It’s cliché to say that God knows what we need, right when we need it; the truth of that statement should shake our core. The weeks I spent here in this small Nebraska town where a deep need. I needed the people that came into relationship with me here. The power of their stories, the individual needs and encounters of life that we met together in a short time will never be erased from my mind. The power of relationship and coming into connection with people is powerful, with the ability to teach, change, motivate, and love.

I will go home, back to a city of lights and dreams, of racing cars and screaming children, sirens and crime. I will finish my time at a school that I deeply love. I will resume my life as it was before I came to this place, but I will be different from the love that I met here. I will be different because I met my God here, through these people, and through this place.

God is with us.

The Sun is Rising
